Vote Now

The majority of Board Members are elected by the association’s voting membership to three-year terms with the opportunity to serve an additional consecutive three-year term. Board seats are primarily structured by geographic region, the exceptions being the president, past president, president-elect, young alumni director, three at-large directors, and emeritus directors who are all appointed by the Board. Election ballots are emailed to members in June. Only paid and active UWAA Members have voting rights.

Beginning June 1, 2026, current UWAA members are invited to vote on the Board of Directors nominee representing Wyoming District 9 including Teton, Sublette, and Fremont counties.

District 9 Nominee

Jacob Doss ('08)

Jacob Doss is a proud University of Wyoming graduate from the class of 2008, where he earned a degree in Finance while serving as quarterback for the Cowboy football team from 2003–2008. Following graduation, Jacob began his career in athletics, serving as both an athletic director and head football coach before transitioning into the private sector and the growing education technology space.

Jacob went on to help found a company focused on expanding financing opportunities for students pursuing careers in the skilled trades. During his time at Lumion, the company grew from serving roughly 100 students across five school partnerships to serving nearly 50,000 students across more than 500 schools nationwide. Building on those relationships and his passion for workforce development, Jacob later launched his own venture focused on building and operating trade schools across the country. As a Co-Founder of Tradecraft, his mission is to help train the next generation of plumbers, electricians, and HVAC technicians through accessible, high-quality education and modern campuses.

Jacob currently serves on the University of Wyoming College of Business Advisory Board and remains deeply committed to supporting educational and career opportunities for future generations of Wyoming students. He resides in Jackson, Wyoming with his wife of 11 years and their two sons, Jackson and Dash.

Bylaws

The proposed bylaw changes, included below, were approved by the UWAA Board of Directors during the annual Spring meeting which took place April 17, 2026.

Members will have an opportunity to vote on these changes starting on June 1 by electronic ballot. The voting period will be open for ten days.

Proposed Changes Approved by UWAA Board of Directors:

  • Define at-large board seats (i.e., board members who do not represent a defined geographic area) from three to up to six (at the discretion of the UWAA Board), though out-of-state directors shall never outnumber Wyoming resident directors.
  • Include a formal mechanism to preserve staggered terms of UWAA Board seats, which preserves continuity between scheduled turnover to protect institutional knowledge of board members and aligns with governance best practices.
  • Clarify role of ex-officio members and update eligibility and service requirements of emeritus members of the UWAA Board (which are both non-voting members) to promote alignment with UWAA mission.
  • Formalize Legal Committee and Executive Committee expectations and roles.
  • Move from a board populated by member elections to a "self-perpetuating model" whereby the UWAA Board approves candidates recommended by the UWAA Board Nominating Committee (nominations submitted via the UWAA website will still be available and encouraged).

Committees

Committees are populated annually at the spring meeting. There are four standing committees of the Board that reflect the Board’s fiduciary responsibilities—executive, nominating, finance, and legal. The executive committee meets monthly to provide direction to the Executive Director on the association’s operations. The finance, nominating, and legal committee meetings are called as needed throughout the year.

Composition of the Board

The board’s composition includes 22 - 25 directors: one (1) Director from each of the nine (9) Wyoming Judicial Districts as designated by the State (see Exhibit A), for a total of nine (9) Directors, and six (6) Directors selected from six (6) United States geographic regions—Northeast, Southeast, Far West, Southwest, Colorado, and the Neighboring States Region (defined as Idaho, Nebraska, Montana, North and South Dakota, and Utah) (see Exhibit B). In addition, the Board of Directors will appoint one (1) Young Alumni at-large director and may appoint from three to up to six (at the discretion of the UWAA board) additional at-large positions. The Young Alumni director must be thirty years of age or younger at the time of appointment. However, in no case will the number of out-of-state directors exceed the number of directors residing in Wyoming.
